As if there isn't enough going on...

Grace has ants in her room.

I went to tuck her into bed and noticed a couple ants on the wall, then I noticed more, then I pulled her bed away from the wall and found a colony.

Ok maybe not a colony but way more ants then should be in her room! I killed as many as I could find but I have no idea where they are coming from or why they are there.

Josh is on duty and won't be home until tomorrow night.

Grace went to sleep in my bed.

They told us at self-help to do half water/half vinegar in a spray bottle to kill the ants. Plus it is non-toxic to the kids.

if you can find it there, terro. I think it's safer than other things, and not spraying poison around the house. They have bait boxes or this clear gel that you can place on a cardboard square. Works wonders!

Ah yes, vermin and insects. The vinegar/water thing worked for us, too...

The best things that I learned about ants came from an exterminator in Camarillo...do NOT kill any of the ants. The queen knows how many ants she sent out to "scout" things and if they don't return she will hatch that many more eggs, so you won't get rid of them. Instead you need to set out the bait traps that take the food back to the colony to kill the queen, then you will get rid of your colony! It works every time. We did it once in Camarillo and never had any more problems and just did it here before we left for California. No ants when we returned!
